Ahmad Omid Behrooz is an Afghan journalist, writer, and media specialist with over a decade of experience in reporting, editing, and media management. Born in 1993 in Mazar-e-Sharif, the cultural heart of northern Afghanistan, he grew up witnessing both the challenges and the resilience of his people — experiences that inspired him to dedicate his life to truth-telling and social awareness.
He holds academic degrees in Journalism and Economics from Balkh State University and the private university of Mawlana Jalaluddin Mohammad Balkhi. From a young age, his passion for storytelling led him to the world of journalism, where words could become a tool for justice, hope, and change.
Ahmad began his professional career in 2009 as a field reporter for the National Radio Television of Balkh. Over the years, he worked with several leading media organizations in Afghanistan — including Rena Local TV, Radio Nehad, Radio Killid (The Killid Group), and Afghanistan 24 TV — serving in roles ranging from journalist and editor to producer, presenter, and media manager.
His experience extends beyond reporting; he has also held leadership roles in media and public relations, notably with the Afghan Wireless Communication Company and the “New Thought” civic movement in Kabul. As an investigative journalist and editor for the Nai Organization (Supporting Open Media in Afghanistan), he contributed to strengthening media freedom and accountability in the northern region.
Driven by integrity and compassion, Ahmad believes journalism is not merely about news — it is about human stories. His work has focused on promoting human rights, social justice, civic engagement, and freedom of expression. He has collaborated with various civil and cultural organizations to support initiatives that raise public awareness and empower communities through information and dialogue.
In recent years, Ahmad has also contributed to research and data projects as a Field Enumerator with Pearl Horizon Consulting (PHC), combining his journalistic insight with analytical and fieldwork experience.
Beyond his professional roles, Ahmad Omid Behrooz continues to advocate for truth, empathy, and understanding in a world too often divided by conflict and misinformation. Through his reporting and writing, he seeks to amplify marginalized voices, highlight social realities, and inspire hope.
For him, journalism is not just a profession — it is a moral responsibility, a lifelong mission to connect people, tell untold stories, and remind the world that truth still matters.
„I write not to impress, but to express the truth that must be heard.“
Mission Statement
As a journalist, my mission is to seek the truth, tell it with integrity, and use it as a force for positive change.
I believe that journalism is not just a profession but a responsibility — a responsibility to inform, to question, and to inspire awareness in a world where misinformation and silence too often prevail.
Through my work, I strive to give voice to those who are unheard, to shed light on the stories that shape our societies, and to hold power accountable with honesty and courage. Every report, every interview, and every word I write is an effort to create understanding — between people, between communities, and between truth and perception.
I aim to practice journalism that does not divide but connects; that does not exploit suffering but seeks to heal through empathy and clarity.
My commitment is to stand with humanity — to tell stories that reflect both its pain and its resilience, its struggles and its hope.
In every assignment, I remind myself that the role of a journalist is not only to deliver news but to defend the right to know, to question, and to speak.
This is what drives me: the belief that awareness brings empowerment, and that truth, no matter how fragile, has the power to change the world.
“Truth is not a choice — it’s a duty.”
